How did this start for me?

My name is Dr. Makkel Andrean and this is part of my story. At a young age, I became a dedicated athlete with the intentions of finding a career to be surrounded by other competitors. In college, I was able to be among the athletes as I played soccer for a small college in Canton, Missouri. I thrived in athletic training courses as my choice of discipline, but I always knew in my mind I wanted to be more than an athletic trainer.

College classes and soccer were going smoothly up until the spring of my junior year. As I returned back to Missouri in January, I had broken out in hives from head to toe over the course of several days. I had gone to the nearest walk-in clinic for a steroid shot. The shot seemed to calm everything down for about five hours as all hives began to resurface. Within the next four days, I had gotten two more shots with little relief. Some mornings, I would wake up unrecognizable by my professors. After several weeks, I had seen a western medicine allergist who gave me a two year prescription for antihistamines.

In disbelief and not willing to accept that taking four pills a day is my only option, I found NAET. I traveled back to Arizona and found quick relief after just a few sessions that week. That summer I utilized NAET as my healing modality. I was able to take what I had learned about myself and Eastern medicine back to college that fall.

As I was preparing to apply to graduate schools to continue in medicine, I paused to listen to the voice in the back of my head. I knew I was capable of being accepted, yet my heart was not willing to give prescription drugs like many other health care providers. I held onto how I was able to feel so healthy with NAET. After graduation, I began taking the classes to become an NAET practitioner.

I became a practitioner in October 2019, and was quickly awarded many patients. Witnessing the benefits of an alternative modality, propelled me to take more classes with NAET and enroll in a dual degree from Phoenix Institute of Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture. This has expanded my practice with new ways to instill balance and harmony across all aspects of life.
